Today is International Women’s Day. On this day we remember women who we hold in high regard. Honoring their story, and their contribution to the world. The woman I chose to honor today was an orphan turned Queen. She came into prominence at the same time as her people’s enemy did. As the old saying goes there are no coincidences with God he always has a plan! When the enemy and his plan were made known she had two choices-
- Put her head in the sand and let someone else take the hard stand.
- Go before the King unsummoned, against protocol which could lead to death.
She chose the first option. However, she didn’t leave her people or her God out of the picture. She called for a three-day fast from her people as well as herself before approaching the King.
If I perish, I perish. (Esther 4:16b)
God granted her favor with the King and his next in command Haman and his plans were destroyed. She saved her people from annihilation because she dared to do the right thing, risking everything.
Now that is a true Queen! So today I honor Queen Esther!
Who knoweth whether thou art come to the kingdom for such a time as this? (Esther 4:14)
A good name is rather to be chosen than great riches, and loving favour rather than silver and gold. (Proverbs 22:1)
Do what’s right even when no one is watching yet know God is and he will exalt you in due time.
