Luna’s Story

I wanted to share with you a bit of Luna’s story: her beginning, the middle, and the finish project.

Beginning

In 2018, I was on my way to get my curly cut done, which I do twice a year, when a poem about curly hair started coming to me. In 2019, I had the poem and a rough idea of the sketches to go with. Along the way she had three name changes: Elsa, Moon, and Luna.

Middle

At one point, I thought that maybe the poem was an outline. I used it as such and added characters and changed the story. God quickly interrupted me and said, That’s not the story and guided me back to the poem. God confirmed to me that the poem is the story.
Last year I discovered a delightful book The Lighthouse Keeper by Zoe Sadler. It’s a delightful story using poetry.
The first picture shows all my paintings; the second displays an accumulation of my work for Luna Goes Exploring, including the journal, original drawings, paintings, and a folder of ideas for the landing page I am developing, along with a collection of mistakes I will use for practicing painting, chalk, and other medium.

Finish Project

This book was an on and off project for years. Each of the sketches were drawn, inked, then water colored. In the fall of 2025, during a business meeting with God, he said to finish up the children’s books. So I spent the last four months on My ABCs & God, then got busy on a weekly basis with finishing up Luna Goes Exploring.
