This week I started a new devotional “Walking Through Shadows: Finding Hope When Life Feels Dark.” It is a 21- day devotional, but knowing me it will probably take me longer. I tend to be slow when I go through devotionals. I’m two days in and loving it. Sherry York, a fellow member of Christian Book Academy has done it again. In January I bought her poetry book “Mountain Reflections; Poems Form the Heart.” So of course I bought her 21- day devotional.
Day 1
What stood out to me was her reference to Psalm 63 and how it “reminds us to consider shadows as a place of safety anbd sheltered protection, a hiding place.” On October 13th as I prayed Psalm 91, and came across verse 1- He that dwelleth in the secret place of the most High shall abide under the shadow of the Almighty God said to me, “The watchful eye of the Almighty. On October 20th I was reading what he said in my journal on the 13th and God said to me, “It’s a good place to be!”
Day 2
Day 2 ‘s title is Where We Live. Sherry started with a playful tale about a day at fish school and the connection to our need to recognize that just like fish depend on water we depend on God for our everything. We need Jesus. He has already navigated through this life victoriously. We need his guidance to do the same.
I love her Think On This exercise for Day 2, “Write out your beliefs and doubts.” This was very helpful to me. I think it’s important for us to note what we believe and what our doubts are. So as you can see I’m only into Day 2 but I am loving it and highly suggest buying it.
Just two days in and I can see already that Sherry’s book Walking Through Shadows: Finding Hope When Life Seems Dark, 21-day devotional is going to be a life changer! I’ll keep you posted as I continue to work through this devotional.
