Washington, D.C. & the People’s House

My daughter for some time has wanted to see the Air and Space Museum so we decided to take a family trip to Washington, D.C.

We stayed in Alexandria, Virginia a very quaint little town that we enjoyed very much. With the hustle and bustle of the AmTrack nearby it was quite a busy place. Besides the street trolleys, buses, and the AmTrack many people zipped around on electric scooters. The layout of the area was breath taking and cozy. Our favorite restaurant hang out was Theismann’s. Great food, great location!

Historical Background on “Virginia”

Nicknames for Virginia: Old Dominion, (most common) Mother of Presidents, and Mother of States. Virginia is one of the first and oldest overseas dominions of the kings and queens of England.

The following day we took the AmTrack to Washington, D.C. As we drew near to Washington, D.C. God said to me, “You are entering hostile territory.” Wow is that the truth!

District of Columbia

Columbia was a female personification of the new America. Before the Statue of Liberty took her spotlight she was the face of America. She played a large role in political cartoons. In 1776 Phillis Wheatly wrote a poem dedicated to her.

One century scarce perform’d its destined round.

When Gallic powers Columbia’s fury found;

And so may you, whoever dares disgrace

The land of freedom’s heaven-defended race!

Fix’d are the eyes of nations on the scales,

For in their hopes Columbia’s arm prevails.

Phillis Wheatly (1776)

Air & Space Museum

As we entered the museum I saw from a far-off distance the Capitol building that seemed to loom over the area. I knew at that moment I needed to take that 2 city block walk to it after the museum visit. It took us about four hours to get through the museum. Our only disappointment was the Planetorium show which was a waste of money and time. We really should have walked out! It covered foolish theories on the big bang, dark matter, etc… So I put my beats in and just watched the light show overhead.

The fool hath said in his heart, there is no God.

Psalm 14:1a KJV

For the invisible things of him from the creation of the world are clearly seen, being understood by the things that are made, even His eternal power and Godhead; so that they are without excuse: because that, when they knew God, they glorified Him not as God, neither were thankful; but became vain in their imaginations. and their foolish heart was darkened.

Romans 1:20-22 KJV

Capitol Building

After the museum visit we headed out on our 2 city block walk in the 100 degree sun to the Capitol. As I approached I realized how big it was and how cut off from the people it truly is! As I approached the bottom steps God said to me, “The people’s house, the people’s house.” As I stood on the bottom steps I felt God beckoning me to come up higher. At that moment God made it clear to me that He was going to make things right, God style! In other words His way not man’s way.

Watch how God reclaims what rightfully belongs to the people!

“The people’s house.”

Grievances, there are many and God will see to it that justice is paid in full.

Righteousness and justice are the foundation of Your throne; mercy and loving-kindness and truth go before Your face.
