Somedays there is rain other days there are clouds and after 25 years of marriage, the clouds have a silver lining. Today my husband and I are celebrating 25 years of marriage. We have had our share of ups and downs, trials and triumphs and we are still around. I heard a great teaching on marriage decades ago that stuck with me relationships are deposits and withdrawals. There needs to be a consistent balance between the two.
If someone were to ask me what my secret is I would say God and remember what made you fall in love with your spouse, to begin with. Never allow anything and I do mean anything come between your relationship. Love is to important to let go of. Things can be replaced, jobs can be replaced but family once it’s gone it’s gone. Love Builds a Garden by Elton John truly puts love in the right perspective.
Marriage is an investment and is well worth the cost to maintain. So keep on striving and after 25 years you will see the silver lining on those clouds.
I have been young, and now am old; yet have I not seen the righteous forsaken, nor his seed begging bread.
Psalm 37:25 (KJV)
Look to God he will see you through the good times, and the bad times into the clouds with a silver lining!
